2. Welcoming of new member of the E.C.

Postponed, since: Mame Toucouleur Mbaye, Honorary Consul of Senegal could not be present.

3. Review of past events and financial state of the corps

Most past events were break-even or slightly at a loss. On several occasions, we had late cancellations and no-shows.

In general terms, LACC still has a substantial reserve amount in the bank. For the near future, the following decisions were taken:

- the treasurer will negotiate a deal with the City Club for 5 or 6 lunch events in the course of the year, with no minimum participation required and at a cost for LACC similar to other consular gatherings

- the treasurer will keep the E.C. updated on the progress of income and expenses on a regular basis (e.g. every three or four months, as he deems required)

- in principle, all events should be at least break-even so members with late cancellations and no-shows will have to cover the cost, starting with the June 16 event

$6,000 will be reimbursed to the treasurer in payment of advances he has done on his personal credit card.

3. Upcoming events

A new lot of books has been purchased by LACC to be used as a gift to new members.

The Treasurer reported on his several successful contacts. He has now secured the following list of upcoming events, as well as formulated great ideas for the coming year, to be discussed:

4. Updates executed on our website and Guidebook for all members

The secretary upated the members of the E.C. on the work done on the website, with demonstrations of how the mail tool functions.

The Guidebook is now completed and has been distributed to all members. The interest shown by our LACC members has further increased and a number of consular posts now use our mail distribution tool for their verbal notes and other communications.

5. Parking at LAX

The Dean will contact the office of the Mayor and the LAX authorities to see if there is any change, considering the advancement of the works at diverse parking areas throughout LAX. The current situation (parking near terminal 8) is below expectation. A return to the situation before the works started is wished for, with access to the vendors lots.

7. Suggestion for protocol position and brainstorming for secretary’s replacement

The principle was adopted that a member of the E.C. will be appointed in the protocol position. The Dean suggested that Lorna Johnson be appointed in that function, and no one expressed opposition against this proposal.

Further refelction is neede on the job description for the protocol position and the relation to the actual event organizer.
