Amanda Susskind joined the Anti-Defamation League as the Regional Director for the Pacific Southwest Region in July 2002. Under Ms. Susskind’s leadership, the Pacific Southwest Region was one of the first to implement ADL’s Bearing Witness program in partnership with the Los Angeles Archdiocese, and the Miller Early Childhood program for area pre-schools. The region also started an initiative to reach out to the international community in Los Angeles and ADL’s first Asian Jewish Initiative, a partnership with community-based organizations representing the Los Angeles residents of Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Philippine descent. The initiative coincided with the expansion of the region’s Latino Jewish Roundtable founded in 1992.

Ms. Susskind also created a grass-roots coalition of civil rights and religious groups to promote the “Declaration of Los Angeles,” calling upon federal, state and local law makers to consider human rights and denunciate hatred and xenophobia in the immigration debate. The Declaration was endorsed by of the Los Angeles City Council and, in 2007, enacted into state law as Assembly Joint Resolution 16 (Levine, D-Los Angeles).

Before joining the Anti-Defamation League, Ms. Susskind was a partner at the law firm of Richards, Watson & Gershon, where she specialized in public law and environmental law. Ms. Susskind served on the Los Angeles County Park and Recreation Commission from 1990 to 1995, the Los Angeles County Housing Commission from 1995 to 2000, and the California Coastal Commission from 2000 to 2005. Ms. Susskind also plays the violin with the Culver City Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Susskind earned a Juris Doctor degree from Hastings College of the Law and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Stanford University.
