Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County celebrates its 100th Anniversary with an entire transformation, including the opening of its 3 ½ acre Nature Gardens and indoor Nature Lab, the Otis Booth Pavilion complete with a 65-foot fin whale skeleton suspended from above, and two new exhibitions:

  • Becoming L.A, a permanent exhibition, chronicles how people and the land affected each other over 500 years and transformed a remote pueblo into the L.A. we know today.
  • Just Add Water is a special exhibition of watercolors by L.A. Artist Rob Reynolds inspired by the opening of the L.A. Aqueduct, an event which transformed Los Angeles back in November of 1913. On view through August 2014. Learn more at NHM.org.

California Science Center

The mission of the California Science Center is to stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone by creating fun, memorable experiences. Open seven days and week with free general admission, the Science Center includes four major exhibit areas, including World of Life, Creative World and Ecosystems. With the addition of Space Shuttle Endeavour in October 2012, the California Science Center stands alone as the only institution on the West Coast – and the only science center in the world – to display a flown orbiter. Samuel Oschin Pavilion featuring Space Shuttle Endeavour enables guests to see Endeavour up close and discover some of the science behind this amazing vehicle. The Science center also hosts international touring exhibits and has an educationally focused IMAX Theater.  For more information visit: CaliforniaScienceCenter.org.

California African American Museum

The California African American Museum is an arts institution devoted to collecting and sharing for public enrichment the full-scope of the African American experience. The Museum currently has seven exhibitions on view, including A MEMOIR IN FOUR MOVEMENTS: Carmen de Lavallade & Geoffrey Holder, a survey exhibition focused on the four “movements” (theatre, art, dance and design) that comprise the artistic output of Carmen de Lavallade and Geoffrey Holder; and Soul Stirring: African American Self-Taught Artists From the South, which showcases the artworks of significant artists from the region of the American South.  For more information visit CAAM.CA.GOV.

We encourage our members to take advantage of this opportunity by coming and bringing your families in this unique experience.
